Specifications include, but are not limited to: The intent of this specification document is to describe the conversion of one Ford F550, Sprinter, or step van (or equivalent) into an outreach vehicle for use by the Lincoln Library (“Library”). This unit shall be built on less than 26,001 lb. GVWR chassis for adequate support of the conversion, and will hold a diversified collection of approximately 2,000-3,500 items, 2 laptop work stations, and other equipment. Vehicle must be a hybrid diesel engine with Odyne Plug-in Hybrid System or equivalent. The vehicle described herein is intended to provide contemporary mobile library services to a broad mix of patrons in an operationally efficient manner. The unit will operate within a suburban environment in central Illinois and shall be designed and equipped to safely operate in an environment of relatively flat, paved roadways. The unit will be kept outside the library when not in service. The approximate temperature range of this area is 30°F to 90°F, with occasional winter temperatures falling to -10°F and occasional summer temperatures reaching above 100°F. It is the Library’s utmost goal to ensure that this vehicle is well-equipped to operate efficiently and safely in this environment.
