NIU delivers a safe, reliable and affordable atmosphere to promote excellence and engagement in teaching and learning, research, scholarship, creativity, artistry, and outreach and service which is enabled by NIU’s data network and information technology resources. The purpose of this RFP is to identify technical solutions available to meet our business needs for protecting research, educational, intellectual, sensitive, and private data and systems from unauthorized access. We seek a comprehensive solution to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of NIU data and systems. This document includes a profile of the current environment, from a business perspective as well as a technical point of view and includes detailed information. High-level business requirements have been defined, indicating the immediate focus for this initiative as well as the long-term strategy. As part of Northern Illinois University security best practices, it has been deemed vital for the University to implement, maintain and monitor appropriate security measures. This is to provide protection for our internet-facing applications and client services, as well as preventing any internal damage to our network from the outside. This should encompass a 24x7 service from a domestic Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) who is a market leader (such as Gartner, SC Magazine, Forrester, etc.) and has multiple Security Operations Centers (SOC) that support, monitor, and mitigate the Northern Illinois University security infrastructure and critical devices. Additionally, NIU and/or Vendor must be able to declare an incident and the Vendor must provide incident response support to enable NIU to be able to conduct its business. These services will enhance our security posture and reduce our risk of a security breach. Northern Illinois University invites proposals for a Managed Security Services Provider to deliver services consisting of but not limited to: Monitoring and identification of network traffic for security incidents Responding to alerts (prioritization, analyzing, investigation, etc.) Correlation Rule Development Analysis and Reporting Customer Visibility (ex. Dashboard) Mitigation of incidents (ex. blocking, tackling) Remediation Recommendations Incident & After Action Reports
