Specifications include, but are not limited to: This project will have three parts. The first part will be to brace up the front porch roof and remove the deck framing, flooring, and wood steps. Install a new footing system designed to carry the new deck and roof load. Footing inspections are required before pouring the concrete. Install new deck structure in the same foot print of the existing roof. This will need to carry floor load while supporting the roof load. Modifications may be made on the roof beam to accommodate the new support columns. Framing inspection is required before decking is laid. Finished product needs to be treated framing material, 5/4 decking, treated handrailing around the deck, approved fasteners and hold downs. The steps will need to be code complaint. The steps will be attached to the deck framing and land on the existing concrete. Steps must have stringers with 7 ¾” or less rise, 10” minimum run, handrailing, solid treads and full risers. Remove the ¼ round on the inside of porch ceiling and the crown molding on the soffit around the porch. Wrap the beam in break metal up to the bead board on the inside. Wrap the exterior side of beam and soffit. The bead board will remain intact through to the finished project.
