Specifications include, but are not limited to: Identifying potential Road Weather Information System (RWIS) technologies and servicing. IDOT uses RWIS as a decision-making tool for roadway maintenance, and seeks to improve and expand its existing RWIS network into a robust system to assist in keeping the roads clear of snow and ice. This shall include: • Identifying current RWIS technologies that must be capable of capturing: air temperature, wind speed and direction, relative humidity, dew point, a minimum of one pavement temperature and one subsurface pavement temperature, roadway status (wet, dry, etc.), visibility, precipitation presence and intensity, and roadway friction (grip). • Typical configuration of an RWIS station capable of collecting the required information above. Please provide a brief summary of the equipment and layout for both a typical invasive style RWIS station and a typical non-invasive style RWIS station.
