Specifications include, but are not limited to: IDNR is seeking a Vendor to repair the loading dock at the Illinois State Museum in Springfield, Illinois. The existing loading dock at the Illinois State Museum requires replacement after suffering from years of use, weathering, deferred maintenance, and damage from outside vendors such as garbage disposal services and snow removal services. The existing loading dock has also proven to be inadequate to meet the needs of the Museum as it is too small, lacks a proper ramp system of appropriate width and slope, and has improper orientation to the site traffic flow – blocking traffic during deliveries and limiting size of delivery vehicles that can access the museum. The existing concrete dock has sections of the cantilevered section spalling at the underside, exposing rebar and additional structural steel reducing load capacity and creating a safety concern. The existing dock ramp also requires replacement due to structural failures at most of the support columns and the deterioration of the composite concrete walkway reducing structural integrity and creating a safety concern. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is seeking bids to remove the existing cantilevered concrete dock system and associated ramp structure and to replace it with a new dock and ramp design/layout utilizing reinforced concrete footing and foundation systems and reinforced slab on grade construction over compacted granular fill. New painted metal guardrails and laminated rubber dock bumpers will also be provided. To protect the new dock and ramp structure from future damage a new pipe bollard system will be provided as part of this project.
