• Incorporate the 2011 City of Des Plaines “Sustainability Report” • Conduct a Citywide emissions audit • Assess the City’s current practices in the following areas: o Transportation o Land Use o Alternative Energy o Waste Reduction & Recycling o Buildings & Energy Efficiency o Water Conservation & Management • Identify emissions reduction strategies, goals and related costs for the above areas and as they relate to the 2011 “Sustainability Report.” Each strategy should include an estimated return on investment period • Design and implement a comprehensive public engagement process • Align with City, Regional, State, and National Plans • Compile a Climate Action Plan – two versions o Public Education Version o Comprehensive internal version with detailed goals and timelines
