This agency will collaborate with program staff to identify best practices, create accessible resources, and support knowledge exchange among peers. Business Licensing: Provide technical assistance to small businesses seeking to obtain or renew a City of Chicago business license, including guidance on obtaining the required documentation, understanding the various license types, and determining eligibility for exemptions. Public Way Use Permits: Provide guidance to small businesses seeking to obtain a sign, awning, and other public way use permits, and ensure businesses maintain ongoing regulatory compliance. Chicago Business Direct: Encourage and support small businesses in enrolling in the Chicago Business Direct platform. Chicago Legacy Businesses: Identify legacy businesses that have been in continuous operation and ownership for fifteen years or more and that contribute to neighborhood character or hold historical or cultural significance.
