The work will include the dismantling of current systems, installation of new air handlers, compatible accessories, and ensuring optimal performance standards. The subject air handler is mounted in the ceiling area of the east side of the space and the replacement may require man-lifts, cranes, scaffolding, or other access aides to complete. The new air handler must meet the following specifications: • Type: The air handler shall be a modular design capable of variable air volume (VAV) operation. • Capacity: The air handler must have a cooling capacity of not less than 30 tons and a heating capacity of not less than 350,000 BTUs per hour. • Construction: o The casing shall be constructed of galvanized steel with a rust-inhibiting coating. o The unit shall be insulated with high-density fiberglass to achieve a minimum R-value of 6. • Fans: The unit must be equipped with energy-efficient, variable-speed, direct-drive fans with a minimum efficiency of 85%. • Heating and Cooling Coils: o The cooling coil shall be a copper tube and aluminum fin type with a minimum of 30 rows. o The heating coil shall be a finned-tube type with stainless steel casing.
