Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Board of Trustees of Illinois State University (ISU or University) is seeking Proposals from qualified firms to provide existing and proven solutions to update its academic information environment. The academic information environment supports the Universitys academic program and academic support functions, including admissions, financial aid, housing and dining, transcripts, grade reporting, course registration, course management, degree audit, international studies, graduation, student accounts, advisement, customer relationship management, document management, and identity and access management. The academic information environment should also provide data streams to support the Universitys business functions, including alumni services, donor services, key management, emergency alerts, ID card, textbook ordering, and library patron management. The academic information environment should be able to accept inputs from third-party systems such as retail book stores, payment processing, donor management, loan processing, compliance, test scores, taxation, and student visas. The University reserves the right to make multiple awards to satisfy its academic information environment and supporting systems needs. The scope of the RFP includes an integrated solution consisting of the following architecture components: 1. Student Information System (SIS) The SIS is a core component of the target state architecture. It will consist of an enterprise solution to manage student information containing the following high level functionality including: - Facilitating admissions process - Enrolling students - Processing financial aid - Administer Scholarships - Managing student accounts - Registering courses - Academic Advisement - Facilitating student visas for international studies - Managing course schedules - Managing course completion, transcripts, and grades - Performing degree audits - Confirming graduation requirements - Track non-academic coursework requirements on student record 2. Constituent Relationship Management A solution to manage the marketing and communication to recruit prospective students to ISU. This solution will also provide the ability to manage all contacts and notifications to constituents. 3. Other ERP Academic Systems Systems or solutions required to provide functionality currently supported by the mainframe application(s) which may or may not be provided by an SIS system: - Brand Management Advisement and career placement for students post-graduation extending the brand and reputation of ISU in the employer market - Campus Management Campus services to students including managing key access to facilities and providing emergency response support - Student Services Student services for managing housing needs and dining meal plans. In addition, student card services used for identification, facility access, events entry, and charging on/off campus purchases - Educational Services Services for purchasing textbooks and access to campus libraries 4. Enterprise Portal A unified portal framework that will provide a seamless, web based user experience to academic system functionality. The portal will provide role-based access to ISU prospects, students, parents, faculty, and staff. 5. Systems Integration There are several points of integration between different types of applications in the target state architecture. A system integration solution must integrate with the following type of systems: - ERP academic systems consisting of the SIS and other related packaged systems and/or solutions - Existing ISU non-mainframe applications consisting of a number of custom and packaged systems that provide campus and student services - External systems that will need to continue to send and receive data feeds for the following services: Textbook purchasing Payment Processing Financial Aid Loan Processing Standardized Testing Services Donor and Funding Contributions Educational boards compliance Other Federal and State government compliance - Identity and Access Management ISU currently has two systems for managing user identity and access, which provide authentication and role based authorization to applications. A third component is in the mainframe that manages unique IDs. The identity management solution should consider options to integrate, supplement, or replace the existing identity management capabilities in the Vendor response.
