The proposed improvement is officially known as the Village of Morton Grove 2026 CONCRETE SIDEWALK REPLACEMENT PROGRAM. This project will be financed by Village of Morton Grove funds. The Work included in this Contract shall consist of furnishing all the materials, labor, equipment and incidentals required for concrete sidewalk removal and replacement and all other incidental work necessary to complete this improvement according to the Contract Documents... 9. SAWING PAVEMENT, DRIVEWAY, SIDEWALK, COMBINATION CURB AND GUTTER, AND BUTT JOINTS This work shall be performed at locations shown on the plans, included in the Special Provisions or as directed by the Engineer. The Contractor shall cut the joint, between the portion of the material to be removed and that to remain, with a sawing machine in a manner that will prevent spalling when the material is removed and result in a straight and perpendicular joint. All saw cutting shall be to the full depth of the asphalt or concrete material to be removed, except as otherwise indicated in the details for Hot-Mix Asphalt Pavement Removal – Butt Joints. It is the Contractor’s responsibility to determine the thickness of the existing pavement and whether or not it contains reinforcement. No additional compensation will be allowed for sawing reinforcement. This work shall not be paid for separately but shall be included in the cost of the applicable removal items. 10. RESTORATION This work shall consist of restoring grass areas disturbed by concrete replacement. The disturbed area shall be backfilled with excavated or granular material to a depth 4 inches below finished grade. Backfilling shall not be paid for separately, but shall be included in the cost of concrete replacement pay item(s). Prior to placing any topsoil, all unsuitable material, debris, and type of existing sod and rubbish resulting from construction operations, and all stones, broken concrete or boulders more than two inches in dimension, shall be removed from the parkway and disposed of by the Contractor at their expense. Any backfill material in the right-of-way must be compactable and shall be approved by the Engineer prior to its use. Disturbed grass areas abutting new concrete areas shall be restored as follows: 1. Areas to be restored with a width equal to less than 6 inches may be restored with topsoil and seed. 2. Areas to be restored with a width greater than 6 inches shall be restored with topsoil and sod and the minimum with of sod restoration shall be 24 inches.
