This project consists of replacing the bridge that carries Devon Avenue over I-94. The existing SN 016-0834 is a four span steel girder bridge with a 7” concrete deck overlaid by 1-3/4” of HMA and supported by reinforced concrete piers and concrete pile supported stub abutments. The existing structure will be replaced with a new two span continuous galvanized steel structure (SN 016-0840) supported on closed abutments and reinforced concrete pier. The Devon Avenue profile will be raised to provide addition under-clearance for F-94. The existing Devon Avenue pavement will be removed and replaced with HMA pavement within the section where the profile is being revised. The new pavement section will also include a 7-foot sidewalk on the south side and a 10-foot shared use path on the north side. The intersection of Devon Avenue with Cicero Avenue will be scarified and resurfaced. A new traffic signal will be installed. Drainage improvements will include proposed catch basins, manholes, and storm sewer. The project will also include all incidental and collateral work necessary to complete the project as shown on the plans and described herein. The project will be constructed under traffic staging.
