The Village of Lincolnshire is initiating Phase 1 of its water transmission main abandonment project, which involves disconnecting and abandoning approximately 2,000 feet of 18-inch ductile iron water main. This phase includes two strategic disconnects located at the Lincolnshire Reservoir and the Bannockburn Reservoir. The purpose of this project is to begin the phased removal of a redundant section of water main that is no longer essential to the Village’s current water distribution system. SCOPE OF WORK – PHASE 1 o As part of Phase 1 of the Village of Lincolnshire’s transmission main abandonment project, the contractor will perform the following scope of work at two separate locations—Lincolnshire Reservoir and Bannockburn Reservoir: Lincolnshire Reservoir Disconnect: • Excavate down to the existing 18-inch ductile iron water main where it connects to the 20-inch ductile iron water main. • Expose the tee connection and install a mechanical plug to permanently seal the water main. • Remove the top section of the existing valve vault, including the frame and cover. • Fill the remaining vault structure with clean sand to prepare for abandonment. Bannockburn Reservoir Disconnect: • Excavate down to the existing 18-inch ductile iron cross fitting (on west side of cross). • Expose the west side of the cross and install a mechanical plug to isolate the abandoned section. • Remove the top section of the valve vault, including the frame and cover. • Fill the remaining vault structure with clean sand to prepare for abandonment...
