Specifications include, but are not limited to: TFC will be provided in the homes of licensed, specially trained and supervised foster parents. The TFC parent serves as a primary member in the treatment process for the child. TFC parents are the change agent. They are available to the child 24/7 for support, treatment intervention, crisis stabilization, and connection to the community and school. TFC parents are considered to be professional participants of the clinical treatment team and Child and Family Team (CFT). Their role includes conducting specific life skills and social skills training, daily interventions, and recording those interventions in a child’s treatment log. TFC parents receive specialized training in various mental health and trauma disorders as well as in cultural sensitivity and skills building.
