• Encapsulate asbestos & lead hazardous siding with new, pre-painted / coated fiber cement clapboard siding • Disconnect or protect exterior fixtures and utilities as needed for safe siding installation. • Remove any existing exterior window, door and any other trim work on the home. Make repairs as needed. • Prep soffits and fascia for application of new material: • Inspect fascia and rafter tails for signs of rot or pest damage. • Identify and document any underlying framing damage for potential change orders. • Replace damaged framing members with pressure-treated lumber or matching dimensional lumber. • Ensure proper slope and structural support is maintained. • Install new cement fiber materials for the soffit, facia and trim boards. • Install venting consistent with current code and historic appearance. • Fasten back in place any loose or damaged asbestos siding without breaking the material. • Spot-repair or reinforce areas where attachment points for new siding, furring strips, or battens will be placed. • Furring strips to be fastened through the asbestos siding and sheathing into structural studs using corrosion-resistant fasteners.
