The Department requests an exemption from competition for annual support and licensing of the Legal Case and Process Support Software that supports this under IDAPA 38.05.01.042.10.vi. The current contract was obtained through a competitive bidding process on March 3rd, 2022 as ITB20210795 and the contract was awarded to Karpel Solutions. Karpel is a critical partner for the continued support, maintenance and upgrades for the Department’s legal team. Any disruption of the support and/or licensing for the Karpel software would have significant consequences resulting in possible disruption of service and compliance with State authored objectives. Therefore, the Department requests an exemption from competition for annual support, maintenance and periodic updates of the Department’s Karpel software. The Legal Case and Process Support Software provides a tool where Deputies Attorney General who are assigned to the Department and their staff can store, share, and communicate about documents. This allows the legal team to manage a variety of legal civil cases and Department program requests for legal consultation, while improving efficiency and accountability. As the legal team is stationed in different parts of the state, this online, cloud-based tool allows the team to easily see shared documents. The software generates, stores, and manages documents and is integrated with existing Department software tools.
