Please note: This is a Sole Source Notification. The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) recently received a fleet of 160 snow plow trucks, each outfitted with data-collection tablets. These tablets—provided by Certified Powered Inc. Companies and installed by a third-party contractor—were intended to monitor snow plow operations, deicing agent application, and road conditions. Following deployment, the tablets have consistently failed to perform to operational standards. A detailed evaluation confirmed that the devices are defective. The warranty period for all 160 units has lapsed. Certified Powered Solutions has acknowledged the performance issues and has offered a goodwill credit of $250 per unit, which can be applied toward the purchase of new, updated Human Machine Interface (HMI) units. These upgraded devices are essential for ongoing data collection and operational efficiency. The updated HMIs are capable of capturing more accurate and comprehensive road condition data than the original tablets.
