Specifications include, but are not limited to: Participants of this course will be medical professionals needing a refresher course on how to safely provide vaccinations to adults and children, with specific attention paid to the intramuscular route (IM), in accordance with national standards. Number of course participants is expected to be upwards of 20 on Oahu Course content must include, but may not be limited, to the following: a. Infection control and sterile technique Preparation and timely disposal of vaccine Safe use of needles and syringes Retractable safety syringes shall be used b. Route of administration Injectable route Subcutaneous route Intradermal route Oral route Intranasal route Multiple injections c. Needle length d. Dosage e. Age of patient e. Proper management of adverse reactions to injections f. Blood Borne Pathogen overview This course will be conducted on Oahu and the neighbor islands. Will include two (2) sessions on Oahu. Will include one (1) session on Hawaii (the Big Island), one (1) on Kauai and one (1) on Maui. Each session will be 2-4 hours in duration. The training shall include didactic and hands-on components. At the conclusion of the training, participants must be proficient at efficiently and properly administering 20 vaccinations with retractable syringes per hour.
