A. Service Activities (Minimum and/or mandatory tasks and responsibilities) Applicant shall accept adult women offenders who are at the HCCC, KCCC, MCCC, or WCCC prior to being released time served, prior to and after release on parole supervision, or who are on supervised release, pre-furlough, or furlough statewide, who have been assessed by the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation as being appropriate for services, unless the Applicant presents to the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation justifiable reason that an inmate should not receive Mentoring Services. The Applicant shall provide only those services agreed to in advance by the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation as required for the offender. The Applicant shall not extend the Mentoring Service period or terminate an inmate without prior approval from the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Mentoring Services shall include, but not be limited to providing mentoring management: Contract oversight, data collections, evaluation, and reporting. This Scope of Services contains the specific components of Mentoring Coordination Services: 1. Mentoring Management a. The Service Providers shall take the lead on all aspects of mentoring, including recruiting, screening, training, matching, and supervising mentors. To ensure that there are enough mentors on hand to mentor the Applicant’s caseload, the Applicant must actively recruit mentors from the community. It is important to maintain an active recruitment drive for new mentors. b. The Service Providers shall develop or present an existing comprehensive, evidence-based training program which addresses: communication skills, problem solving skills, relationship building and socializing skills, community advocacy, and understanding of criminogenic needs and their effects, an understanding of inmates and the justice system, understanding the obstacles and barriers of reintegration (including issues surrounding substance abuse, sex offenses, and mental health), developing self-sufficiency and efficacy in adults, understanding gender differences, individual safety and protocols when working with inmates. c. The Service Providers shall provide the Department the name of the mentoring curriculum it intends to utilize, or provide a copy of the mentoring curriculum that it intends to utilize. Applicant shall not utilize mentoring curriculum that has not been approved by the Department. d. The Service Providers shall work with the Intake Services Center Division, HCCC, KCCC, MCCC, or WCCC on planning and implementation of group activities and other events related to the mentoring components.
