Standby Services. On the date and time of the City's request, the Contractor's standby rescue team shall be present and on-site at the City facility. The Contractor shall be in constant coordination with the City during the standby period. The Contractor shall be in close proximity of the City's workforce and be able to provide confined space rescue services immediately if requested by the City. Rescue Services. Should the City request the Contractor to perform a confined space rescue, the Contractor shall determine and confirm the location and number of persons to rescue with the City. The Contractor shall take into consideration the conditions of the rescue, potential hazards, hazardous materials involved and their format (liquid or gas), and immediately activate the rescue team to perform the rescue. Confined Space Rescue. It is noted that a confined space rescue may have a hazardous Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health ("IDHL") atmosphere that cannot be removed with forced air ventilation. The objective of the rescue team is to safely retrieve affected personnel in the confined space identified by the City. It should also be noted that the confined space has the potential for entrapment or engulfment, and that there may be personnel in the confined space that may be unconscious. A. The various types of structures that could be a confined space includes, but is not limited to, those listed below: B. 1. Sewer manholes. 2. Below grade storage and treatment tanks. 3. Aboveground storage and treatment tanks. 4. Underground vaults. 5. Underground building structures.
