The general duties of the Security Guards shall include, but not be limited to: Maintaining interior and exterior hospital perimeter security as directed. Promptly notifying the hospital operator and Nursing Supervisor of any unusual events, including patient elopements. Assisting in the pursuit of AWOL or escaped patients on campus grounds when directed by the Nursing Supervisor on duty. Escorting staff to and from vehicles upon request. Supporting first responders, including ambulance crews and law enforcement, as needed. Preparing written incident reports and participating in investigations. Reporting fires or emergencies and assisting as needed. Maintaining a daily shift log of unusual occurrences. Reporting covert, unsafe conditions or security breaches. Conducting pat-downs and searches for contraband when directed by Nursing. Handling contraband per hospital policy, including maintaining the chain of custody. Detaining unauthorized visitors until law enforcement arrives, when directed. Assisting with the implementation of any future GPS patient monitoring systems (e.g., ObserveSmart). Managing security screening at the Hale Hoʻōla entrance (metal detector and x-ray machine). Assisting with fire drills and collecting drill documentation as needed. Responding to hospital codes: Code 77 (Elopement): When directed, assist in search effors and location reporting for individuals who have eloped. When feasible and appropriate, help detain the individual until additional support arrives, using sound judgement and Conflict: Prevention, Management Resolution (CPMR) techniques. HSH will provide CPMR training to all Contractor personnel assigned to this contract. Code 200 and Code Blue: Provide traffic and crowd control during Code 200/Blue incidents. Respond to Code 200/Blue emergencies as directed by the unit charge nurse or Nursing Supervisor on duty. Assist HSH staff, as directed, in redirecting individuals engaged in inappropriate behavior. Remain vigilant, as these code areas may be potential crime scenes and must be secured until a determination is made by HSH administration or the appropriate law enforcement agency.
