Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Driver and Traffic Safety Education Program (DTSEP) provides traffic safety awareness messages for students in grades K-12. This includes preventive safety and rider education related to pedestrian, bicycle, school bus and vehicle rules of the road. The DTSEP distributes printed materials, conducts student traffic safety and health training, and provides resources, speakers and support to the schools to conduct student assemblies and awareness campaigns. The student training focuses on leadership and youth advocacy skill development to assist the students with their individual and peer education skills. Professional speakers/trainers who are experienced with working with youth/teens are key to successful training. Speakers with motivational messages to encourage positive behavior, attitude, resiliency, responsibility, respect for self and others are sought to help develop caring and contributing citizens who will become safer travelers
