Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Hawaii State Department of Health, Family Health Services Division, Maternal and Child Health Branch is seeking the services of an outreach coordinator to work with reputable agencies that currently serve Micronesian and Pacific Islander communities to assist in implementing priorities such as employment and career readiness, and college preparation activities for youth, young adults, and their families. There are an increasing number of Micronesians that migrant to Hawaii each year. It seems apparent that those migrating to Hawaii experience many changes adapting to the “local island” and American culture. Access to supports for career readiness and college preparation is a valued foundational pillar within most Micronesian and Pacific Islander communities. Increased emphasis on cultural assimilation may ease the transition for indivduals and families that migrate to Hawaii so that they do not lose their sense of traditional values and customs. In order to assist in providing support and services for families and youth within the Pacific Islander and Micronesian communities, the Hawaii State Department of Health, Family Health Services Division, Maternal and Child Health Branch is seeking the services of an outreach coordinator to provide supports to an already established community-based organization that serves the Micronesian and Pacific Islanders residing in Honolulu, Hawaii. The organization will work with reputable agencies that currently serve Micronesian and Pacific Islander communities to assist in implementing priorities such as employment and career readiness, and college preparation activities for youth, young adults, and their families.
