All services performed by the CONTRACTOR shall be subject to inspection, testing, and approval by the CA and shall include but not be limited to the following tasks: A. Quarterly Services 1. Inspect and check all connecting piping, valves, septic tanks, manholes, seepage pits, and leach fields for proper operation. Inspect and clean or replace (if required) effluent filters on septic tanks feeding seepage pits. Inspect and clean filters more frequently than quarterly if determined necessary. Additional inspection and cleaning of filters shall be incidental to the Quarterly Service Period Unit Bid Price. If filter can no longer be cleaned, replace as required. Cost of filter replacement shall be considered Authorized Extra Work. Mitigate any odor problems. 2. Rotate use of septic tanks and leach fields from primary to alternate or vice-versa by switching moveable gates and valves in manholes. 3. Measure scum and sludge levels. Pump outs will be scheduled when: a. the sludge level is within 12 inches of the bottom of the inlet or outlet tee; b. the scum bottom is within 3 inches above the bottom of the inlet or outlet tee; c. the scum top is within 1 inches of the top of the inlet or outlet tee; or d. the scum thickness is more than 6 inches thick.
