The CONTRACTOR shall perform complete maintenance and repair services which includes annual inspection and testing for all STATE fire hydrant systems included in this contract. Services shall consist of thorough maintenance work in accordance with the best commercial practices governing the maintenance of fire hydrant systems which include the American Water Works Association guidelines, the Counties of Hawaii, Maui and Kauai Department of Water Supply procedures and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 25 “Standard for the inspection, testing and maintenance of water-based fire protection system” for STATE fire hydrant systems located on the Islands of Hawaii, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, and Kauai. Service shall include scheduled maintenance tasks and inspections for each unit listed herein. All maintenance services shall be as specified and shall be subject to inspection and approval by the Contract Administer (CA) or the Point of Contact (POC). The CONTRACTOR shall be aware that some schools may require the work be performed outside of school hours and no additional compensation will be provided should this occur. The CONTRACTOR shall repair or replace all worn, failed or questionable components and parts, to ensure satisfactory operation of the fire hydrants. Replacement parts shall be of similar design and quality to maintain system integrity and serviceability. The CONTRACTOR shall be totally responsible for all costs required to maintain and repair all fire hydrants systems, including the fire hydrant and the corresponding underground isolation valves, to ensure complete and satisfactory operation of the fire hydrant systems. Maintenance and repair in this contract include, and are not limited to, the valves, operating stems, caps, bolts, gaskets, seals, rust removal, paint, and etc. (including but not limited to, valves, operating stem, caps, bolts, gaskets, seals, paint) for complete and satisfactory operation. Any questions as to the satisfactory performance of maintenance service and repairs, including the satisfactory operation of all equipment and systems shall be determined by the CA or POC. There may be other fire hydrant systems located on the school site that belong to the Counties of Hawaii, Maui and Kauai. The assessment and servicing of these fire hydrant systems are not part of this contract and are not the CONTRACTOR’S responsibility. However, should the CONTRACTOR discover other fire hydrants not listed herein and not owned by the Counties of Hawaii, Maui and Kauai, the CONTRACTOR shall document and notify the CA and POC. The STATE may request that the CONTRACTOR include the new hydrants based on the unit bid price per hydrant and island on the Offer Pages.
