In accordance with Section 103D-304, HRS, the Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT), Airports seeks the services of qualified architectural and/or engineering firms to provide design services for the “Diamond Head Extension – Design” project at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, State Project No. AO1040-02. The project scope involves the demolition and clearing of existing structures and parking lots, and the environmental site remediation required to accommodate the eastward extension of Terminal 2. The new facility will incorporate operational elements such as agricultural screening, a security screening checkpoint, airlines lounges, concession spaces, baggage handling system, chiller plant, ramp control office, space for a future ticket lobby, gates for wide-body aircraft as well as the associated utility infrastructure, airfield pavement and other miscellaneous improvements. Existing support facilities within the expansion footprint, including a vehicle wash rack, triturator and vehicular security access points will also be relocated. New facilities shall be designed to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification to the maximum extent feasible. Services of this contract include providing recommendations for separating the Diamond Head Extension program into multiple logical construction project packages, taking into consideration operational needs, phasing requirements, schedule and budget.
