The Contractor is responsible to provide temporary traffic control and safety measures on State highways on the Islands of Maui, Molokai, Lanai, 24-hours a day, 7-days a week when and as directed by the Engineer. All work will be required on an "as-needed" basis. The State gives no assurance to any Contractor that any specific quantity of services will be purchased. A. Hours of Operation 1. The Contractor shall be available to provide the specified services, 24-hours a day, 7- days a week, including State holidays, as requested. 2. Normal working hours for the project are defined as Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except State holidays. Labor charges for all services requested after normal working hours may be charged at a rate of one and one-half (1-1/2) times the normal hourly rate. Inclement Weather. When requested by the Engineer, the Contractor shall provide services in all weather conditions. B. Traffic Control/ Closing of Lanes 1. Respond to work requests to provide temporary traffic control and safety measures within one (1) hour of the call during normal working hours, and one and one-half (1- 1/2) hours during other hours. Longer response times may be acceptable at the sole discretion of the State. For purposes of this paragraph, the definition of the term "respond" shall mean to have traffic control personnel and the required traffic control signs, devices and equipment on the jobsite and installing the required traffic control signs, devices and equipment, which is the subject of the request. 2. The Contractor is expected to provide at least three (3) traffic control crews on Maui: vehicle/equipment and Flagger/Work Zone Traffic Control Safety workers, continuously on all weekdays, during the normal working hours specified in Section 10.3(A) Hours of Operation, of the Specifications.
