1.2.2.1 H-1 Freeway Zipper Lane The Contractor’s primary duties will include: • Daily setup and removal: Using the Zipper Machine to place and remove the movable concrete barriers for the morning peak traffic period to create contraflow lanes for HOV drivers. The Contractor will also be responsible for placing and removing flexible delineators, traffic cones, and portable signs. • Maintenance: Regularly checking and replacing dislodged traffic control devices on the H-1 Freeway from the Manager's Drive Overcrossing to Sand Island Access Road. • Equipment and Barriers: The Contractor must arrange for the Zipper Machine's manufacturer to provide bi-annual inspections and technical support. The Contractor is also responsible for replacing all damaged and worn-out barriers with new barriers provided by the Contractor, including those damaged by vehicular accidents, and for maintaining the Zipper Machines and the "Zipper Barn" storage facility. The Contractor is also responsible for disposing damaged and worn-out barriers. • Compliance: All operations must adhere to the applicable Hawaii Administrative Rules and the Federal Highway Administration's Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), as may be amended.
