The Hawaii State Department of Education (Department), Office of Student Support Services (OSSS), School Health Section (SHS) requests community input to facilitate planning activities and development of a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the provision of ADVANCED PRACTICE SCHOOL NURSING SERVICES including school-based clinical health care services to students (for example: diagnosis and management of acute and chronic health conditions, preventive care, and care coordination with a student’s community-based health care team), and medical or nursing consultation to school teams regarding student health needs. The services align with and serve to implement the Hawaii Board of Education (BOE) policy 103-4, in addition to Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS) §302A-851. The Department is also seeking input on the following: Please provide any insight for the Department to consider when developing an RFP to allow for innovations in service delivery models, such as telehealth. Please provide any logistical or resource concerns the department should take into consideration in developing an RFP for equitable availability of services to students statewide. The information received will assist the Department in preparing the release of one or more RFP in the immediate future. Because of the foregoing, the Department welcomes feedback to formulate the criteria to compose a competitive solicitation for these services.
