Specifications include, but are not limited to: The principal objective of the Project is to improve operational efficiency, reduce congestion, improve mobility, provide reliable travel times and allow travel choices in one of the most heavily traveled corridors in the Atlanta region. SR 400 is the primary north-south connection between the employment centers of Atlanta and the residential areas of north Fulton and Forsyth counties. The proposed express lanes will be constructed to the inside of the general purpose lanes and will directly connect to the proposed I-285 East Metro Express Lanes project. GDOT's additional objectives for the Project during delivery include: minimizing disruptions to the traveling public through appropriate traffic management; advancing safety and security for workers and road users; close coordination with Project stakeholders; and promoting the use of small business enterprises owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals.
