This phenomenal growth has prompted the community to develop the Atlanta City Design plan – a new vision for the future wherein transportation and development are leveraged to maintain Atlanta's natural beauty while reducing reliance on single occupant vehicles. The Atlanta City Design plan is characterized by five core values, including: • Equity – commitment to fair inclusion of everyone in the economic, social, and cultural benefits of city life, • Progress – commitment to move forward through hard work and peaceful, constructive compromise, • Ambition – civic motivation to build great businesses, institutions, and artistic expressions • Access – new approach embraces nuanced layering of bikeways, streets, railroads, highways, and transit that supports character of neighborhoods • Nature – embrace of a complete spectrum of watersheds and layers of vegetation that support human and wildlife.
