ADID—in partnership with the City of Atlanta—is updating the Downtown Atlanta pedestrian wayfinding system. The existing system is nearly 20 years old and in need of modernization. Work is currently underway to develop conceptual designs for the enhanced system. The scope of work for the conceptual design phase is included in Attachment 2. While a full system overhaul is desired in the long-term, Phase One of the wayfinding design-fabricate-install project will include signage along three key pedestrian routes (Attachment 3). Phase One will only be installed along City of Atlanta right-of-way. The selected design-fabricate-install team will advance the identified conceptual designs through final design, necessary engineering, permitting, fabrication, and installation. In addition, existing signs on the identified pathways are anticipated to be demolished. A full array of sign types is being developed through conceptual design; a proposed sign family is shown in Attachment 4. While conceptual designs are not finalized, it is anticipated that materiality will be consistent with typical outdoor signage, including steel or aluminum fabrication and vinyl wraps. It is possible that signs may contain illumination.
