Work under this contract consists of removing and replacing Portland Cement Concrete roadway slabs, as well as Spall Repair and Fiber Reinforced Crack Repair on SR 404(I-16) in Bibb and Twiggs County. The Project limits are from Mile Post 5.0 to Mile Post 8.61 in Bibb County and MP 8.61 to MP 22.0 in Twiggs County East Bound, West Bound, and the Ramps. The contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, means of transportation and incidentals necessary to perform work. Attached is a map and a list of approximate locations and quantities. This project shall be bid per line item. Removal items: Existing slabs, spalls, and cracks wider than ½ inch shall be removed and disposed of by the Contractor daily. All dust and debris resulting from work on this contract shall be removed daily from any shoulders and roadway surfaces at no additional cost to the Department. All debris shall be removed from underneath guard rails to allow for positive drainage. Replacement slabs shall be constructed according to Pavement Details P-2 or the CRCP Detail Attached. Slabs are estimated to be 12 inches in depth. Disturbance to the base below slabs shall be repaired properly at no cost to the Department. Slabs that are cracked but not to the severity that warrants replacement shall be sealed. All locations are to be determined at the engineer’s discretion. Spalls and cracks shall be repaired with a type IV fiber reinforced concrete material that is grey in color as per specifications and QPL 27. Cracks will be ground to approximately 4 inches wide, cleaned and sealed with a Type IV fiber reinforced material that is grey in color. Joints shall be sealed as per Detail P-3. All striping that is damaged or removed during construction shall be replaced with like kind and included in the price of traffic control. Work shall be performed between 8:00 P.M. and 5:00 A.M. Work times may be altered at the Engineer’s discretion due to traffic volume. Any damage to signs, guardrail, or concrete structures (i.e. ditch paving, bridge decks, headwalls, etc.) shall be repaired at no additional cost to the Department.
