Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. Core Aeration – will be required the month of May each to relieve and prevent soil compaction. Note that core aeration machine use on Glenn Hills High School football field must be adjusted to a height of no more than 3 inches, due to shallow irrigation lines. All cores shall be removed by mechanical or manual means. All damages to existing sprinkler systems, as a result of aeration, is the responsibility of the contractor. B. Soil Testing – twice (2) per year – Contractor must provide, to the Maintenance department, a copy of the soil testing results for each field and any recommended corrective actions. C. Lime Application – as prescribed/recommended by the soil test results D. Fertilization – applications during growing season following proper horticultural practices –four (4) applications minimum. Minimum Nitrogen application should be slow or control release 6 lbs. per 1000 square feet on fields that have irrigation. For fields that are not irrigated, contractor must follow application rates that comply with turf management standards and practices. E. Weed, Pest, and Disease Control – for weed control pre-emergent herbicide applications twice (2) per year or efficient to control weeds, pest, or diseases. All post emergent herbicide applications as needed to maintain aesthetic appearance. F. Pest Control – must adhere to Georgia Department of Agriculture Pesticide Application rules and guidelines. Integrated Pest Management program is preferred. Signage and demarcation must be in place before application – with re-entry period. G. On as needed basis, treat diseases with specific regards to fungus. H. Contractor will work with Maintenance & Facilities to ensure the location of all sprinkler heads and shallow lines on the irrigated fields. I. All machines used on athletic fields must be equipped with turf tires to minimize turf damage and soil compaction. Any aeration equipment must be adjustable for fields that have shallow lines. J. Contractor must possess a valid Category 24 Commercial Pesticide Applicators License and Pesticide Contractors License. Copy of the license must be submitted, with bid packet, to the Richmond County School System. K. Prior to applying pesticides or fertilizers, the contractor must provide to the Richmond County School System, Maintenance & Facilities Department a chemical inventory of products and a copy of the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) on all materials and/or chemicals used on athletic fields.
