The Contractor shall furnish, service, inspect, account for, and maintain a replacement supply of tires for the Authority's fleet, as hereinafter described. SW 2.0 TIRE REQUIREMENTS 2.1 Tires in Possession of the Authority at Inception of Contract: The Contractor shall be cognizant of and totally supportive of strict fulfillment of the Authority's obligation to the previous Bus Tire Lease and Services Contractor respecting the tires currently in the possession of or identified for use by the Authority. Pursuant to provisions of the previous Bus Tire Lease and Services contract, the Authority shall continuously use the approved tires insofar as practicable of its highest mileage runs until they are rendered permanently unfit for service. 2.2 Supply of Tires: The Contractor shall always maintain a supply of tires for a continuity of service. In the event of a manufacturing delay in tires due to a strike, the Contractor will, to the degree possible, stock additional spare tires to sustain the Authority during the manufacturing delay. In any event, it is the Contractor's responsibility to always ensure an adequate supply of tires. 2.3 Tires to be furnished by the Contractor: The Contractor shall provide a transition plan outlining how the tires in the possession of the Authority at the Contract's inception are rendered permanently unfit for use and replaced. Thereafter, throughout the Contract term, the Contractor shall furnish and continuously maintain all tires of the listed types in inventory, including enough spares to ensure that tires are always available for the Authority's use. All tires furnished by the Contractor shall be individually and uniquely branded prior to delivery. It is the responsibility of the Contractor to provide the proper tire rating and sizes that meet the applicable requirements for city transit bus application. The front axle is rated at 14,400 to 14,869 lbs. and rear axle at 25,000 to 27,934 lbs. The authority operates approximately five hundred and sixty (560) low floor transit buses averaging 65,000 miles per year.
