Specifications include, but are not limited to: The three-story project will offer a variety of dining options and a retail market on the lower two floors. Three distinct uses will share the third‐floor space. 1) Classrooms ‐‐ approximately half of the floor will be dedicated to general purpose active learning classrooms which will be used by student organizations in the evenings; the other half of the floor will include 2) Medical and Mental Health Services (urgent care and counseling services) will comprise the other half of the floor; and 3) Nutrition and Culinary Development ‐‐ collaborative workspaces for nutrition professionals and nutrition student employees and a residential‐ style demonstration kitchen that will be collaboratively utilized by Dining Services and nutrition professionals from the University Health Center. West Campus Dining Commons - West Campus Dining Commons will consist of an approximately 800- seat dining facility primarily serving meal plan students but also open to faculty, staff, and visitors to campus. The Market at West Campus Commons, an approximately 2,000 square foot retail market, will offer convenience items and will be located adjacent to the main lobby on the first floor. West Campus Dining Commons will have two levels of dining options, seating, and production support. Five restaurant offerings are currently planned within the facility with additional self-service options including soups, salads, cereals, and beverages. Initial plans also include 400 square feet of private dining space which may be used for group dining reservations, student groups, or as overflow seating space. The locations of the various components of the Commons within the facility will be optimized to maximize operating efficiency and seating capacity. Active Learning Classrooms and Student Organization Meeting Space - The project creates a new learning hub with approximately six to eight active learning classrooms that will accommodate 24-48 students each.
