Work under this contract consists of removing and replacing Portland Cement Concrete roadway slabs, as well as Spall Repair and Fiber Reinforced Crack Repair on SR 401(I 75) in Monroe and Bibb County. This project does have a section of Continuous Reinforced Concrete. The Project limits are from Mile Post 170.00 to Mile Post 189.00 in the Southbound lanes. This work also includes replacing joint sealant on any bridges in these areas and resealing any joints in the limits of this project in need of reseal. The contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, means of transportation and incidentals necessary to perform work. Attached is a map and a list of approximate quantities for estimating purposes only. It is the intent of this contract that all damaged slabs, cracks, spalls, and joints be repaired within the project limits. This project shall be bid per line item. Removal items: Existing slabs, spalls, and cracks wider than ½ inch shall be removed and disposed of by the Contractor daily. All dust and debris resulting from work on this contract shall be removed daily from any shoulders and roadway surfaces at no additional cost to the Department. All debris shall be removed from underneath guard rails to allow for positive drainage. Replacement slabs shall be constructed according to Pavement Details P-2 or the CRCP Detail Attached. Slabs are estimated to be 12 inches in depth. Disturbance to the base below slabs shall be repaired properly at no cost to the Department. Slabs that are cracked but not to the severity that warrants replacement shall be sealed. All locations are to be determined at the engineer’s discretion. Spalls and cracks shall be repaired with a type IV fiber reinforced concrete material that is grey in color as per specifications and QPL 27. This work should follow Detail P-3. Areas smaller than 3 inches by 3 inches and cracks less than ½ inch in width shall be filled with Type S Asphalt Rubber Joint and Crack Sealant. This material shall conform to the standard specifications and QPL 92 B. Use preform tape for striping. The contractor shall fill all core holes with Fiber Reinforced Material that is Grey in color. All quantities attached are for estimating purposes only. The contractor shall verify all quantities onsite for bid purposes. Work shall be performed between 8:00 P.M. and 5:00 A.M. Work times may be altered at the Engineer’s discretion due to traffic volume. Any damage to signs, guardrail, or concrete structures (i.e. ditch paving, bridge decks, headwalls, etc.) shall be repaired at no additional cost to the Department. Any areas approved by the Department for the purpose of staging equipment and materials for the project shall be cleaned of all debris and trash. If soil is disturbed in these areas, the Contractor shall grade the areas smoothly to provide positive drainage and grass and mulch the area as directed by the Engineer before final payment is requested.
