Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Equipment List A. Reel mower with 60-inch cut or greater are to be used on the Athletic Fields. B. Rotary mower may be used for non-play field areas shown on scope map. C. Top Dresser (example: Mill Creek or Ty Crop). D. Note: All fertilizer trucks prohibited on fields. E. Boom Sprayer (example: Toro Multi Pro Boom Sprayer or similar model). F. Infield & Outfield Drag equipment 2. Mowing Schedule For the hybrid Bermuda grass, (Tifway and Tifway II), a mowing height of ¾ to 1 inch is preferred, and for common Bermuda grass 1 ½ to 2 inches is preferred. The first mowing in the spring should be low by as much as one-half the desired height. The grass should be mowed often enough so that no more than 1/3 of the leaf surface is removed at a mowing. Generally, this means the field should be cut twice a week during the summer. High mowing heights don’t need as frequent mowing. If this cutting height damages the grass the Owner will be responsible for replacing. May through October – twice per week; either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday November through April – as needed to keep a neat appearance Aerate all fields in March and June, and only top-dress the sand-based fields in June. All fields must be mowed 24 hours before all games/events in order to provide enough time for staff to line the fields. All non-athletic field scope in the Athletic Field bid will follow the Lawn Maintenance schedules shown in the Lawn Maintenance portion of the bid. 3. Top Dressing All Athletic Fields with Bermuda grass areas are to be dressed one time per year. Base quote on 50 tons Brown Top Dressing Sand or Masonry Sand per field per school. Actual tons of sand applied to each field may vary based on need. Additional tonnage that may be required for top dressing shall be billed separate from the base quoted amount at the same cost per ton. All athletic fields must be de-thatched once per year. Aerate all football fields twice per year (December and June). Aerate all soccer, baseball, and softball fields once per year in June. Over seed only fields used for baseball and soccer and any high-profile sites. Use annual ryegrass on all but the high-profile sites where use perennial. Contractor shall prepare a schedule for top dressing, aeration, over seeding, etc. and e-mail it to the Director of Construction & Maintenance and the District Athletic Director beforehand and update the schedule with completion dates.
