Remediation services are essential for addressing damage caused by water, fire, smoke, or mold events. These incidents can occur for various reasons, including, but not limited to, flooding from appliances, pipe bursts, leaking systems, fire suppression sprinkler system activation, cooking accidents, student behaviors, or unclean living environments leading to mold growth. Average/most common service request’s size of scope for remediation services at KSU (for general reference only): Approximately 90% of scopes have a total cost of less than $75,000. Frequent service area layout is a vertical “stack” of rooms on multiple floors. Average project time from first day of onsite work to completion with KSU approval is 5-10 working days. 1. Mitigation: The process of removing damaged or contaminated materials from affected spaces. This may involve: - Removal of portions or all the carpet, baseboards, ceiling, walls, doors, windows, framing, and insulation. - Removal of damaged appliances, furniture, light fixtures, etc. - In the case of water damage, mitigation includes drilling holes in sheetrock for wall cavity drying, and setting up dehumidifiers, air movers, negative air fans, air scrubbers, and other equipment to remove water, smoke, and particulates. 2. Rebuild/Repairs: Once mitigation is complete, rebuild services will restore the affected space, including: - Replacing appliances, furniture, light fixtures, insulation, etc. - Repairing ceilings, floors, doors, windows, framing, baseboards, and other elements. - Sealing and painting surfaces and cleaning affected areas. - Restoring the room to its pre-incident condition, as applicable.
