This project will renew critical infrastructure in the Skiles building, a heavily utilized 140,000 GSF instructional facility in the core of the Georgia Tech campus which hosts nearly 10% of on-campus classroom instruction. The scope includes related upgrading of the HVAC system to resolve significant indoor air quality issues along with related essential electrical and plumbing system replacements and essential repair of the building envelope. Strategic demolition and renovation is anticipated in limited areas to improve space utilization by restoring classroom functions to spaces that have been subdivided into offices (approx.17,000 sf). Offices that have been combined will be re-subdivided to their original layouts (approx. 3,000 sf). No further state funding requests are anticipated for this project.
