Specifications include, but are not limited to: GSU Grounds & Landscaping Services for GSU Greenway, Hurt Park, and GSU Convocation Center.; Turf Maintenance: Mowing of turf areas must be performed at seven-day intervals during peak growing season: Vendor to provide recommendation for number of annual cuts. All trash and debris must be removed during each visit prior to mowing turf areas. Edging and weeding of sidewalks, curbs, parkways, beds, road curbing, parking lots and drives must be performed each visit in order to insure a well-maintained appearance. Trimming must be performed weekly along with mowing. All warm season turf must be mowed at 1" to 1½" whereas fescue will be maintained at 3 – 3 ½" height. Scalping of warm season turf must take place in early spring to remove dormant grass. Precaution will be taken to prevent scalping during the mowing season. All plant beds must be clearly defined between turf and plant locations.; Shrub and Tree Maintenance: Pruning of ornamental shrubs (up to 15' in height) and ground cover and removal of any dead limbs must be conducted at least six times per year or as required to maintain a neat appearance. A deep prune to obtain uniformity shall be performed in early winter. Partially dead shrubs must be pruned back to remove dead or disease areas. All branches and clippings must be removed from work area immediately after each pruning season. Pre emergence herbicides must be applied to all shrub/tree beds in February/March Post emergence herbicides must be applied as spot treatments in shrub beds during the growing season for control of weeds. Fertilization of ornamental trees and shrubs must be conducted in the spring and fall for optimum growth.; Turf Fertilization & Weed Control: Well-balanced fertilizer must be used to maintain a healthy green color and shall be applied based upon Contractor’s knowledge and needs of the area. All lawn areas shall be treated with crabgrass prevention and broadleaf weed control products as necessary. Safety signage must be present during all chemical applications and must remain up for 24 hours and then must be removed. MSDS’s must be provided for any and all chemicals used on Owner’s property.; Trash and Debris Removal: During routine maintenance visits the Contractor is responsible for removing trash and debris from the property. Curbs, sidewalks, etc., are to be cleaned with mechanical blowers and/or brooms to maintain a neat appearance. Heavy accumulations of sand, gravel, leaves, etc., are to be removed with a shovel and brooms if blowers provide unsatisfactory results.; Ground Cover & Beds: Open ground between plants must be kept weed-free using mechanical or chemical methods. All plant material must be free of insect and disease. At all times public and environmental safety is to be considered when applying pesticides. Groundcovers must be fertilized, with a complete fertilizer, as appropriate and as recommended by the Contactor. Litter and debris must be removed during maintenance visits in order to ensure a neat appearance. Soil surfaces must be raked smooth and cultivated regularly. Vines must be trimmed neatly against supporting structures and kept within bounds. Groundcovers must be kept trimmed within curbs and along walkways. They must not be allowed to grow into or through shrubs or other plantings. Sign faces and windows must be kept clear of encroaching growth.
