The project involves upgrading the existing broadband wireless system within the city limits. The current system must be removed and decommissioned once the new network is operational and customers have been transitioned. The city currently has approximately 160 to 200 customers; all of these customers will need to be transferred to the new system. The new system will include three locations: the first is a tower on Hwy. 91, the second is a water tank on 7th St., and the third is a tower on Hwy. 84. The project must use Cambium 3 GHz technology licensed by Federated Wireless. The system must be fully compatible with the current operating system of the managing partner’s network. Each tower location will require a network cabinet with backup power supply and network infrastructure. A fiber optic link must be installed from Hwy. 84 to the Hwy. 91 tower. A licensed 11 GHz point-to-point backup system is required to connect all three towers, with the primary link on Hwy. 91. Additionally, a fiber optic connection must be installed to connect the network back to the managing partner at 156 E College St., Colquitt, Georgia 39837. The contractor must also connect City Hall to the fire department with a fiber connection.
