Dougherty County and the City of Albany are constructing a paved concrete trail about 10-12- foot-wide and 16,600 linear feet (3.2 miles) long, connecting the existing Albany downtown and Albany State University (ASU) Trail to Radium Springs. The project is a multipurpose trail segment taken from the Flint River Trails Master Plan Implementation Strategy, adopted by the Dougherty County Board of Commissioners. The Trail will feature different amenities along its path, such as pocket parks for resting and enjoying the outdoors, access points for canoe and kayak launching, and observation points where the Flint River, animals, and other natural resources can be viewed. The City of Albany will install a fiber optic conduit and cable and an electrical conduit for future electrical distribution to get the most use out of the trail and easements associated with it
