The Gwinnett Technical College automotive building renovation and expansion project aims to increase the institution's capacity to deliver advanced automotive education, including three manufacturer-specific labs, and expand needed classroom and office spaces (approximately 17,000 sq ft.). Furthermore, this expansion allows for the introduction of specialized training in the electric vehicle (EV) space, preparing students for the future of automotive technology. By accommodating a broader range of automotive disciplines, this development will support innovation in education and better equip students for careers in a rapidly evolving industry. The expansion of the Gwinnett Technical College automotive building is essential to meet the growing demand for skilled automotive professionals, particularly in the EV space and new manufacturer-specific programs. The college has not been able to meet the training requests for program-specific spaces for Hyundai, Rivian, Tesla, and several other OEMs’ requested manufacturer-specific training. By adding three new automotive lab spaces, classrooms, and office space the project will not only address the immediate need for more room but also enable the introduction of specialized training that aligns with industry trends. This expansion is needed for each OEM-specific program to meet individual accreditation and certification requirements.
