Specifications include, but are not limited to: MASTICATING / MULCHING INSTRUCTIONS The project area consists of approximately 35.9 miles to mechanically masticate/mulch all brush, shrubs, and small trees (trees with less than six (6) inches diameter breast height (d.b.h.)), down to three (3) inches or less, on both sides of the ditch such that no vegetation remains within the ditch corridor. Titi of any size within the ditch corridor must be masticated/mulched. SITE CLEAN UP All trash created by the Contractor in conjunction with these services shall be hauled away and disposed of appropriately. The Department does not have a designated disposal area/site, it is the Contractor’s responsibility to find a location to dispose of any debris. The FFS, or participating landowners will not pay for hauling, dumping, or tipping fees related to trash removal or any hazardous waste fees or other related waste fees. EQUIPMENT AND PERSONNEL REQUIREMENTS The Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, and support items for the mulching/clearing project. The minimum equipment needed for this project must be able to operate in natural conditions and masticate/mulch vegetative debris of all sizes. Equipment must consist of a masticator/mulching head attached to a boom/arm and be capable of reaching across water-filled ditches to masticate/mulch vegetation down to three inches or less on the interior (forested) side, while remaining in the road corridor. Ditch width varies from six (6) to ten (10) feet. The Contractor must provide sufficient equipment to complete the project by the specified deadlines. The Contractor will be responsible for adding additional equipment, if necessary, to complete the project during the contract period. Equipment used in the performance of the work shall be of the proper type and size, and in such mechanical condition to meet standards specified in this package. The Contractor will furnish sufficient personnel to complete the project in the time allowed. A competent foreman shall be designated in writing by the Contractor and will remain at the work site. Personnel problems must be resolved to ensure delays are minimized.
