To Construct the Northeast Gateway Overpass Bridge. The new bridge structure will extend Welaunee Boulevard over Interstate 10 (“I-10”). The Project is a component of the Blueprint Northeast Gateway project which extends Welaunee Boulevard from its current terminus in the Canopy development at Welaunee Boulevard to a northern terminus at the intersection of Roberts Road and Centerville Road. To accomplish this extension of Welaunee Boulevard, a new bridge is needed to cross I-10. The bridge over I-10 will consist of four 11’-0” travel lanes, two 2’-6” shoulders, a 22’-0” median, a 12’-0” multi-use path, and 8’-0” sidewalk, two 1’-4” wide single-slope traffic railings, and two 1’-0” wide pedestrian/bicycle concrete parapets for a total bridge width of 95’-8”. The bridge consists of four spans, including two 105’-0” main spans and two 75’-6” end spans for a total bridge length of 361’-0”. The superstructure consists of an 8.5” thick composite deck slab on Florida-I 54 beams. The substructure consists of reinforced concrete end bents supported on 18” square precast/prestressed (PC/PS) concrete driven piling. Intermediate piers consist of a reinforced concrete cap, columns, and footings supported on 18” square PC/PS concrete driven piling. The improvement also includes 2,300 ft. of roadway improvements and a stormwater management facility.
