Specifications include, but are not limited to: Short description of the commodity or service desired: The Department requires for in-person, hands-on Rifle Armorer Training Services for the Colt AR-15 for correctional officers throughout the State of Florida. Colt's Certified Armorer Training equips correctional officers with the skills to disassemble, reassemble, identify mechanical deficiencies, and take corrective actions for the Colt AR-15 rifle. The training is a three (3) day course without shooting exercises, held annually, with one (1) class in each of the Department's four (4) regions. Colt's Manufacturing Company, LLC is the only vendor authorized to provide the necessary armorer training to certify correctional officers as Colt Armorers. Each correctional institution must have a certified Colt Armorer to repair and maintain Colt weapons. The Colt Certified Armorer Training is the only program that fulfills the Department's requirements because Colt's Manufacturing Company, LLC will only honor firearms under the warranty program if they are maintained by a certified Colt Armorer.
