Specifications include, but are not limited to: Carpet Cleaning A. The Contractor shall use a hot water extraction cleaning method. B. Carpet cleaning solutions shall be: 1. approved by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, State of Florida; 2. non-irritating, odorless, and harmless to facility occupants and visitors. No product shall be used that may produce adverse reactions to building occupants; 3. safe for use in the environment to be cleaned; 4. safe for the pile fiber, backing material, floor adhesive, soil, and stain treatments; 5. free of oily solvents. Solution must not encourage re-soiling; 6. free of any optical brightness or other fluorescent dyes; and, 7. thoroughly rinsed during the extraction process. B. The Contractor shall follow manufacturer’s recommendations when using any cleaning solution. C. The Contractor shall not use any bleaching agents or reducing agents without the prior written approval of the County Project Manager. D. The Contractor shall dispose of all recovered solutions in a manner consistent with federal, state, and local guidelines.
