2.1. OVERVIEW The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, transportation, handling, clean-up, testing, insurance, and incidentals necessary for the reliable delivery of bulk water softener grade solar salt. The procured material must be of high purity, adhere to all specified chemical and physical parameters, and be NSF 60 Certified for immediate and effective use in the County’s ion-exchange water treatment filtration system. 2.2. SPECIFICATIONS Salt shall be bulk water softener grade solar salt, homogeneous and in a crystalline, granular form, white in color, and must contain no organic binders, flow control agents or resin cleaning material, suitable for use in an ion-exchange system and meeting the following specifications: Salt Parameters: NaCl: Dry basis 96.3% minimum Wet 93.3% minimum Calcium Sulfate 0.30% maximum Magnesium Chloride 0.06% maximum Calcium Chloride 0.10% maximum Magnesium Sulfate 0.02% maximum Insolubles 0.1% maximum Moisture (as H2O) 3.0% maximum Lead 0.0007% maximum Copper 0.0003% maximum Iron (as Fe) 0.002% maximum Fluoride 0.01% maximum Total Impurities (soluble and insoluble) 2.0% maximum
