The City of St. Petersburg is seeking proposals from qualified vendors to provide all personnel, supervision, uniforms, and equipment for unarmed security guards at the St. Pete Pier. 1.2. Background The St. Pete Pier is requesting a proposal to provide security services on the 26 acre Pier District. The property contains and outdoor marketplace, restaurants, gift shop, fishing deck, beach, splash pad, playground and ample park space. The St. Pete Pier sees approximately 1.9 million visitors per year. This service includes all exterior and common areas of the property. It does not include the leased premises of the retail/restaurants. It also does not include the bathrooms located at the entrance to the property on NW corner of 1st Ave N and Bayshore Dr NE. The environmental conditions make this a challenging property as the job requires being outdoors 100% of the time. The property is primarily pedestrian traffic the includes visitors, locals, people on bikes, tram traffic etc. Additionally, the St. Pete Pier has 78 events per year. Events and holidays or generally whenever the St. Pete Pier is crowded, require additional hours and they will be mandatory to provide. There is typically a minimum of three (3) guards on duty at all times.
