The intent of this specification is to describe and establish construction and installation requirements for the truck mounted dump body with fold down/drop down sides to be used by the Florida Department of Transportation (DEPARTMENT) for hauling and dumping of various loads . The DEPARTMENT intends to immediately purchase two (2) truck mounted dump bodies with fold down/drop down sides (DUMP BODIES) meeting or exceeding the listed specifications under this ITB with the possibly of purchasing additional dump bodies for future DEPARTMENT needs. The dump bodies required and covered by these specifications shall be the manufacturer's latest production model and shall be equipped with all new standard equipment in accordance with the manufacturer's latest literature, a copy of which shall accompany the bid along with any and all specifications necessary to verify that the unit either meets or exceeds each and every of the following: 1. GENERAL 1.1 The dump body manufacturer shall be licensed and shall have been in the business of constructing dump bodies for twelve (12) consecutive months and have constructed a minimum of five (5) dump bodies. If upon review the requirements are not met, the bid shall be deemed non-responsive. 1.2 Dump bodies shall be capable of hauling 2.90 to 3.00-cubic yards of material. 1.3 The truck chassis supplied by the DEPARTMENT shall be picked up from the District-3 headquarters at 1074 Hwy 90 East, Chipley, Florida 32428 and taken to awarded vendor’s site for installation of dump bodies onto the supplied truck chassis. All costs associated with pick up and transport of trucks to be retrofitted, along with all costs to deliver completed units back to the DEPARTMENT, are the sole responsibility of the vendor. 1.4 The dump bodies shall be constructed in accordance with or exceed industry standards for this type of equipment. Reconditioned or used parts will not be accepted. 1.5 All equipment cataloged as standard shall be furnished and shall be included in the purchase price of the unit. The component parts of the unit shall be of proper size and design to safely operate the unit for everyday use. Acceptance will be subject to inspection and approval. The successful bidder, at a time and venue designated by the DEPARTMENT, shall provide training to familiarize personnel with the correct operational and servicing procedures for the equipment delivered. Four copies of the manufacturer's service manual containing operating instructions, maintenance instructions and a bill of material or parts list shall be furnished by the manufacturer. In addition, the successful bidder shall submit one (1) electronic copy of the manufacturer's service manual; acceptable formats include Adobe PDF and HTML. The equipment to be furnished under these specifications shall be warranted against defective design, materials, and workmanship as standard with the manufacturer. Copy of the manufacturer's standard guarantee or warranty shall be furnished. 1.6 Truck mounted dump bodies must be fully operational, completely installed to the DEPARTMENT’s satisfaction, and returned to the DEPARTMENT within a 6-month timeframe, with the starting date being effective upon submission of the purchase order to the awarded vendor. Completed truck/dump body units shall be delivered to 1074 Hwy 90 E, Chipley, Florida 32428. Deliveries will be accepted Mon-Fri between the hours of 7AM to 4PM CST. 1.7 The vendor may make light modifications to chassis cab that doesn’t compromise the structural integrity, safety of chassis cab, void existing warranty, or violate any emission regulations. Any modifications must be approved in advance in writing by the Florida Department of Transportation’s District-3 Fleet Manager.
